Plug the SMC1211 series adapter into one of the Master PCI slots of your PCI platform. 2. Turn the power ON, then boot into Windows 98. 3. When Windows 98 prompts with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in the "New Hardware Found" dialog box, click the "Next" button. 4. Select "Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended)" from the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the "Next" button. 5. Insert the SMC1211 series Driver Diskette into your floppy drive. 6. Select "Specify a location" and type Path "A:\" in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then click the "Next" button. 7. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 8. Windows 98 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)" in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. 9. Click the "Next" button in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, then Windows 98 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\ to the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the NETSMC11.INF file from A:\ to the C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. 10. When Windows prompts with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)" in the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box, click the "Finish" button. 11. Remove the SMC1211 series Driver Diskette from your floppy drive. 12. Restart your computer to initialize the network function. NOTICE!! C:\WINDOWS is the directory where your Windows 98 O.S. is located. (B) Configuring the NDIS4 Miniport driver on Microsoft Windows 98 ==================================================================== 1. Click the "My Computer" icon in the Main Program Group. 2. Click the "Control Panel" icon in the My Computer window. 3. Click the "Network" icon in the Control Panel window. 4. Select the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)" item from the "Network" dialog box, then click the "Properties" button. 5. Click the "Advanced" button in the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series) Properties" dialog box. 6. Select the Line Speed value (Auto,100full,100half,10full,10half) for the "Value" item, then click the OK button in the "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series) Properties" dialog box. 7. Click the OK button in the "Network" dialog box. 8. Restart your computer to implement the new configuration. (C) Installing NDIS4 Miniport driver in Microsoft Windows 95 OSR2 ================================================================= 1. Plug the SMC1211 series adapter into one of the Master PCI slots of your PCI platform. 2. Turn the power ON then boot into Windows 95. 3. Windows 95 will prompt with "PCI Ethernet Controller" in the "New Hardware Found" dialog box and the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box. 4. Insert the SMC1211 series Driver Diskette in your floppy drive. 5. Click the "Next >" button in "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box. 6. Windows 95 will prompt with "SMC EZ Card 10/100 (SMC1211 Series)." in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box. 7. Click the "Finish" button in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" dialog box. 8. Enter the full pathname A:\ of the SMC1211.INF file, then click the OK button in the "Copying Files..." dialog box. 9. Follow the screen's prompt to insert the "Windows 95 CD-ROM" and click the OK button in the "Insert Disk" dialog box. 10. Otherwise enter the full pathname of the "Windows 95 CD-ROM" installation files in "Copying Files..." dialog box, and then click the OK button. 11. Windows 95 will copy the driver (SMC1211.SYS) from A:\ to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and the SMC1211.INF file from A:\ to C:\WINDOWS\INF directory. 12. Remove the SMC1211 series Driver Diskette from your floppy drive. 13. Restart your computer to initialize the network function. NOTICE!!
