This section provides an overview of configuring the IB-21E for the NetWare environment.
The IB-21E supports both NDS and bindery printing in either printer server mode or remote printer mode.
The following section gives an explanation on how to install the IB-21E for different NetWare versions. This section describes how to set up a print queue for either mode using the IB-21E NetWare Setup Wizard.
The following items are required for installing the IB-21E in the NetWare environment.
Novell Client
Creation of the NetWare print objects
with the AdminManager NetWare Setup Wizard requires the NetWare Client from
Novell. For NetWare printing, clients may use the NetWare Client from either
Novell or Microsoft.
Network operations concerning creating queues etc. require 'admin' or 'supervisor' privileges (or equivalent). Certain portions of AdminManager may be inoperable if you attempt those operations without sufficient' privileges.
This section provides a quick NetWare setup procedure using the IB-21E NetWare Setup Wizard. For detailed information on manual setup, refer to:
You must have the IB-21 AdminManager software, supplied as part of the software utilities for the IB-21E, installed in your computer. If you have not done so, follow instructions in Installing the Software Utilities.
Start the AdminManager by selecting Start, Programs, IB-20 Tools, and AdminManager. AdminManager will search and list all IB-2x network interface cards currently active in the network.
Highlight the IB-21 on the list that you want to configure for NetWare printing.
Click or from the Setup menu, select NetWare Setup Wizard. The Create NetWare Print Queue wizard starts.
NetWare 4.x and 5.x support NetWare Directory Services (NDS) printing. Bindery based printing is also available for NetWare 4.x and 5.x for backwards compatibility with previous versions of NetWare clients, however.
NetWare 3.x does not support NDS, therefore, you must select bindery mode.
Click Next.
If you have selected NDS mode in the previous step, select the NDS Context where the print objects will be created. From the root (shown as 'KYOCERA_GROUP' below), open containers downwards until you reach the context which will contain the print server, e.g. 'Service.'
If you have selected Bindery mode in the previous step, select the File Server on which you want to create the queue.
Click Next. Select Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode.
The Quick Setup Wizard supports the following:
NetWare 4.x and 5.x NDS: Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode
NetWare 4.x and 5.x Bindery: Print Server Mode only
NetWare 3.x Bindery: Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode
Click Next. A dialog including Printer Server Name, Printer Name, Queue Name, and Queue Volume is displayed. Note that Queue Volume is listed only if you have selected NDS Mode in step 3. If desired, you can rename Printer Server Name, Printer Name, and Queue Name by directly typing in the field. (However, in Remote Printer mode the Print Server Name may not be entered directly. You must select an existing Print Server.)
Click Next. The Confirm Configuration Changes screen is displayed.
Click Next. The NetWare print objects are created.
Click Finish.
To set up a client to print to the IB-2x printer via the newly created NetWare print queue, proceed as follows:
Double click on Windows Network Neighborhood.
Double click Entire Network.
Double click NetWare Servers.
Double click on the appropriate Server.
Locate and right click on the print queue which was created for the IB-2x printer and select Install (or Connect in Windows 2000).
Follow the Add Printer Wizard to install the printer driver.
For details on installing printer drivers, refer to Installing the Printer Drivers.
Click Finish.
AdminManager may be used to delete NetWare queues
or other NetWare print objects. On the Setup menu select Delete NetWare Objects and browse for the objects to be deleted.
