NetWare Printing: Quick Setup

This section provides an overview of the IB-2x NetWare configuration using the IB-2x NetWare Setup Wizard.


IB-2x NetWare Support

The IB-2x supports both NDS and Bindery printing in either Print Server mode or Remote Printer mode.

The following section gives an explanation on how to install the IB-2x for each NetWare version and describes how to set up a print queue for each method using the IB-2x NetWare Setup Wizard.


Requirements

Novell Client Required

Creation of the NetWare print objects with the AdminManager NetWare Setup Wizard requires the NetWare Client from Novell. For NetWare printing, clients may use the NetWare Client from either Novell or Microsoft.

Admin Privileges Required

Network operations concerning creating queues etc. require 'admin' or 'supervisor' privileges (or equivalent). Certain portions of the IB-2x AdminManager may be inoperable if you attempt those operations without sufficient' privileges. 


Quick NetWare Setup

This section provides a quick NetWare setup procedure using the IB-2x NetWare Setup Wizard. For detailed information on manual setup, refer to:  

You must have the IB-2x AdminManager software installed in your computer. If you have not done so, see Installing the IB-2x AdminManager.

Start the IB-2x AdminManager from Windows Start>Programs>IB-20 Tools>AdminManager. AdminManager will display a list of all IB-2x interface cards available on the network.

  1. Highlight the IB-2x interface card you want to configure for NetWare printing.

  2. Click ; or from the Setup menu, select NetWare Setup Wizard. The Create NetWare Print Queue wizard starts.

  3. Click Next. Select NDS mode or Bindery mode

  1. Click Next. Select Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode
    The Quick Setup Wizard supports the following:
    NetWare 4.x and 5.x NDS: Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode
    NetWare 4.x and 5.x Bindery: Print Server Mode only
    NetWare 3.x Bindery: Print Server Mode or Remote Printer Mode

  2. Click Next. A dialog including Printer Server Name, Printer Name, Queue Name, and Queue Volume is displayed. Note that Queue Volume is listed only if you have selected NDS Mode in step 3. If desired, you can rename Printer Server Name, Printer Name, and Queue Name by directly typing in the field. (However, in Remote Printer mode the Print Server Name may not be entered directly. You must select an existing Print Server.)

  1. Click Next. The Confirm Configuration Changes screen is displayed.

  2. Click Next. The NetWare print objects are created. 

  3. Click Finish.


Setting up NetWare Printing on the Client

To set up a client to print to the IB-2x printer via the newly created NetWare print queue, proceed as follows:

  1. Double click on Windows Network Neighborhood.

  2. Double click Entire Network.

  3. Double click NetWare Servers.

  4. Double click on the appropriate Server.

  5. Locate and right click on the print queue which was created for the IB-2x printer and select Install (or Connect in Windows 2000).

  1. Follow the Add Printer Wizard to install the printer driver.

  1. Click Finish.


Deleting NetWare Print Objects

AdminManager may be used to delete NetWare queues or other NetWare print objects. On the Setup menu select Delete NetWare Objects and browse for the objects to be deleted.
